Gavin Maloney At the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Gavin has worked with the Junior String and Wind ensembles, the Intermediate Orchestra, the Wind Band, the Chamber Orchestra, and the Symphony Orchestra. While studying in Manchester, Gavin conducted the Royal Northern College of Music Repertoire Orchestra. He was also Director of the RNCM Clarinet Ensemble, which afforded him the opportunity to work with contemporary composers. In April 2003, Gavin conducted the Dublin Youth Symphony Orchestra on tour in Italy. In May 2004 he was particularly delighted to conduct the Dublin Concert Band on their highly successful tour of Germany's Blackforest region. Gavin is Musical Director of the Ulysses Chamber Choir. He is also a teacher and Assistant Conductor of the John Dexter Harmony. Gavin studied violin with Maeve Broderick at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, and Richard Deakin at the Royal Northern College of Music. He has participated in violin master classes with Sally O'Reilly and Igor Ozim. Gavin has also performed as a jazz pianist. |
